LIBIS is an IT organization and scientific service provider, responsible for the deployment and management of systems and processes to support a FAIR approach to various collections and research data of KU Leuven, the Association and its partners. In close collaboration with research groups, we use our data driven expertise in the development of virtual research environments through participation in (inter)national projects, networks and research.
LIBIS is a division of KU Leuven Libraries and was founded in 1973 to build a library management system. 50 Years later, library automation is still a core mission and has been extended to archives and other heritage collections, always in a network with other institutions. In addition, LIBIS supports Lirias and RDR for research output management and, together with researchers, we use our expertise to develop virtual research environments. Through participation in (inter)national projects, networks and research, LIBIS works on the innovation of scientific collections and data infrastructures and shares this expertise with third parties. LIBIS is always exploring new synergies based on our five key values: open, sustainable, innovative, efficient and dialogue.
