EOSC EDEN & FIDELIS Projects Launched in Helsinki: Advancing Digital Preservation

The kick-off meeting for the EOSC EDEN and FIDELIS projects took place in Helsinki, Finland, from February 4th to 6th. This event brought together consortium partners from both projects for brainstorming, discussions, and groundwork. As the lead of the EOSC-EDEN Expert & Community Engagement work package, KU Leuven-LIBIS will facilitate the effective involvement of communities and experts, enhance awareness and knowledge of digital preservation in the EOSC ecosystem, and ensure seamless collaboration with the sister project, FIDELIS.

EOSC EDEN - Enhancing Digital Preservation Strategies at European and National Level

EOSC EDEN project aims to create a framework for identifying long-term data preservation candidates based on use, benefit, and quality, while establishing a model for re-appraisal points along the data lifecycle. The project will develop practices for curation, preservation, and access strategies in Europe, complemented by user-centric tools, services, and standards to support a European distributed infrastructure for long-term data management.

FIDELIS – Establishing a European Network of Trustworthy Digital Repositories

FIDELIS project will align the criteria for trustworthy digital repositories within the EOSC framework and create a support system for repositories to not only achieve but maintain trustworthiness and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles over time.

Funding source: Horizon Europe

Duration of the project: 01.01.2025 - 31.12.2027
